as well as inflating you, maybe that pump could be, I don't know, changing the colours you have to diffident colours , i.e. blue turns to brown

As you start to get bigger and can't pump very well (maybe start floating? Yes, I'm biased) you drop the pump and start pumping it with your foot to keep the inflation going.
