Once again, it's been forever since I actually drew myself. I've been watching a few cell-shading artists to see how they work and tried to adapt the technique to software that doesn't cost $900, and while it was an okay first attempt, I realized at about the time I did the wings that instead of futzing around with the brush tool trying to use a mouse to make good curves, I should have just used the line tool to segment off areas from the very beginning. Oh well.
I also tried to actually use construction lines to get a wireframe pose before adding detail to it, which sort of helped. I ended up a bit more anthromorphic than was really intended, but it's good enough. I guess I lost weight. It was a quick picture, anyway. No saddle either because I'm lazy.
I'm kind of torn, because while it does give greater flexibility with large areas, it took LONGER than using gradients and I'm not sure if the result looks better or not. Oh well.
Character and art are mine.
