The second one "pops" more because the darker image of the girl stands out against the lighter circle. Otherwise such overall use of grey makes it blend together

So I should probably lighten the circle of the first one to even things out over there...

Hmm I think the real "problem" is that you use a lot of the same "value tone" and then it blends together alot

I don't think my pencil has any more colors than basic grey :P Unless you're talking about something else...

*Sweatdrop* You can use different hardnesses of pencils to get "darker" shades of grey. B's give you darker lines, H's lighter.

Oops, I should've known that's where you were going... Yea, single pencil, single piece of paper. Not much I could do there... Perhaps I'll revise it when I get my pencils back...

The photoshoped one looks certainly cleanre, but the original one has a very nice feel (I love sketches and penciled work) oh BTW, the girl is very cute!!
