It seems that Fate (in the persons of
Major Matt Mason and 
EOCostello) conspired to bring these two together on Spontoon Island in a series of seriocomic stories and episodes culminating in their marriage.
The only thing remaining is - yes, you guessed it!
Baby Makes Three!
Introducing Willow (the doe in the chair), Reggie (the twitterpated buck smiling at her), and their first fawn, Thomas Josslyn Franklin Buckhorn. They named him Thomas for the doubts they'd had, and their happy resolution.
The silly, dramatic and diabetes-inducing story of how Little Tommy showed up will be revealed in the upcoming story Very Fawnedly Yours, by the above-mentioned Fates.
