The Disney Afternoon...sorta...
Perhaps I'm dating myself, but the Disney Afternoon block was one of the biggest influence in getting me drawing furries, as they were some of my first attempts at fanart. Not only were they just fun to look at, Disney *koff* had a way of making some pretty beefy guys. It wasn't until much, much later that I realized why I was focusing on certain characters more than others... ahem ^ ^;;
So, many years later, when bored and looking for something different to do, I did a selection of some of my favorite boys from the earliest shows--before they started getting mostly human based. I'm sure you don't notice ANY trend here (it's...mostly pilots...yes...) ;-p
I guess you could say this is coming full circle? I mean, come on. If I wanted to draw a bunch of Disney characters on-model, I could in a heartbeat. But what's the challenge in that?

Oh, my siblings and I watched these shows all the time as kids, and sometimes my twin and I watch them on YouTube if we can. Gruffi was always my favorite Gummi Bear (there's some nice pics of him on DA), and I totally get the paying attention to certain characters that we realize we had crushes on later. My first was Disney's Beast.
You make an interesting point about Disney and furs and even beefiness. The Robin Hood movie is obviously the definitive furry moment, but for I will say when I was young and between the television eras of Transformers and Daria (as examples of tv shows that dominated my viewing time), Duck Tales, Rescue Rangers, Talespin, and Darkwing Duck were my entertainment (technically Transformer:s Beast Wars too but that was during the 'Daria' era of my TV life). Baloo might have been a subconscious archetype for a musclechub to me furthermore (heck, there is a reason the term 'bear' became the code word for brutish husky men of the gay persuasion).
Nostalgia makes for great inspiration, doen't it Vince?

I'm trying to remember when I saw Robin Hood relative to all this.
Yeah, obviously Transformers was my bag, but it was weird since I was in college during Beast Wars and thus had no viewing time to see it (I think it was on at an odd hour). I usually found some afternoon time for TDA. Didn't have cable for Daria too.
Yeah, I wish they'd emphasized his strength better.
I should milk it more!

Oh Nastalgia....it feels SO GOOD! I loved Disney Afternoon back in the day and looked forward to it. So many beefy, big guys who were a mix of great and/or fun characters. Just enjoying what shinanigans happened to them whether they be good...or not so. XD
OH MAN! It's so fun to see them all, and in human form isn't so bad. I really like your interpretation of them, feel so spot on that it's priceless funny. X3

nice, this brings back memories. ^_^ Totally understand the whole "beefy" guy thing, your right, Disney just has a way with drawing and designing them lol. Nice job on these, I like that you changed them to human, but retain enough of the design that they can actually be recognized.
Got every one of them easily except Pete--it's surprising how different he looks as a human, considering Disney's "dogs" (or cats, since Pete fluctates what he is) are among their most humanlike animal characters. What's sad is that I never really got to see much if any Tale Spin (though reading about it now, I know I would have liked it) nor did I see very much Gummi Bears. (Though when I did catch it, I *did* like Gruffy.) Always loved Launchpad and Monterey though (not in that way :P ). Great job as always!
