Poor Trixie. Even though she was indeed quite the boaster and needed to calm down, I still felt sorry for her both before and after the episode.
She left the town shortly after her vanishing trick, but didn't make it over the hill outside of town before tears were streaming down her cheeks. Trixie slowed to a trot before leaning against a tree, sobbing. The Ursa Major.. Minor.. was scary, but the embarrassment for being shown up by Twilight? Terrifying.. She held back her anger and faced that tiny country town once again.. Earlier that day she entered that town thinking she was the best magic user in all of Equestria (Princesses excluded of course), and so far not a single town in her trek had proved her wrong. She had no reason to think otherwise.
Trixie crept back into town later that night and sifted thru the flattened remains of her home to take whatever she could salvage. The only thing she found was a plan for vengeance.
Trixie, you are what happens when great talent goes unchallenged.

She's a stage magician, boasting is all part of her act. I still don't understand why the characters got so upset with her for it. True, it turned out she was a manipulative liar, but if none of them had challenged her, her show would have wrapped up, and she'd have moved to the next town to continue her act. No Ursa disaster wrecking half the town, no ruined stage magician, no revenge plot. Just a few ponies a little bit displeased with a magic act.
Do you really consider those to be antagonist or plot devices? Closes to what could be a re-occurring antagonist on that list would be Crysalis who's gotten at least a reappearance via the comics. Ahuizoti, plot device for a Daring Do episode with no set up for returning and certainly no potential as a main series antagoist for the main six. Teenager Dragons, plot device for exploring what makes Spike different form his dragon kin. No reason to be a main protagonist because basically, they're just jerk kids. King Sombra, killed/destroyed with whatever his story prior as being a main antagonist done off screen. Tirek would have the potential to be the serie's main antagonist because he was afterall the actual original series main Antagonist, but he too was used more as a plot device to forward the creation of Twilight's castle than anything that has staying power to reoccur as a main bad. So sorry, dear, my comment stands. The weakest part of the MLP series is the fact that conflicts are literally resolved with the antagonist either becoming a friend or totally written out by way of destruction, imprisonment, or plot conclusion. Yes, there are characters who have the potential to be, but we got 4 years of proof that they never will be.
So now what know what lead to this http://bb-k.deviantart.com/art/Pony.....Menu-306321177 ;)
