Tessie Ring was first seen in "The Font of Honour," as a barmaid rescued by Cpl. Winterbough from the clutches of a sadistic pair of murderous canines. But it's hard to keep such a bouncy, optimistic femmefur down. We see her again in "8100 Years of Solitude," where she tends one of the counters at the FAFI (Faerie Armed Forces Institute), the chain of emporia that serve the squaddies of the Imperial & Royal Army of the High King's realm.
Note the implied strength of the infamous FAFI tea, as it seems to be eating into the surface of the counter. A reading of the menu is likewise rewarding. Eating from the menu might be a different matter.
I must consult with the artist, the one, the only
tegerio as to how the monetary system of the Mephitist Empire was set up, and what the abbreviations mean.
In the meantime, dear reader...a tip regarding the tart. No, not Tessie! The *cabbage* tart. Goes well with Infuriator, the official red wine of the FAFI

The Faerie character I've been kicking around in my head would definitely be drooling. Not over the food, though.
Alas, he would be more from Winterbough the Sixth's generation.
And thank goodness they're not serving Lacktail Pie. The entire camp might spontaneously combust if they all went off at once!

There are 28c in 1f. Opinions differ regarding what the letters stand for. Some call them Charleys and Franks. Others call them Cups and Flagons. Chits and Filberts. Crowns and Florins.
I think the official Imperial nomenclature is Coppers and Silvers. Why is there an "f" for Silver? Good question. One could just as easily ask why the symbol for an English pound is a fancy L, or why "dollar" is represented by an S with a line through it. MONEY MAKES NO SENSE.

As soon as I posted that, His Majesty Adler II informed me that I had gotten it completely wrong.
It's 28f in 1c, and 4c makes 1b. The f's are made of copper, the c's are made of silver, and the b's are made of gold.
f apparently stands for "Fragment"
c means "Coin"
b is for "Bonanza"
That sounds extremely made-up, but His Majesty reminds me that Elves Do Not Lie, and this is what he heard elves calling the money.
He has also heard "Frugal, Chipper, and Brazen" ... as well as "Few, Crapton, and Buttload"
Florins, Crowns, and Bravos... Okay, that one is a lot more plausible.
