They look like ordinary humans, possibly even from our world/time.

The rather annoyed boy off in the distance is Monty, The girl is unnamed as of now but I'm working on it. Both of them are from a part of humanity that split off from the tribals that live on the surface of the world generations ago. Wanting to go their own way, these people built a great floating airship that serves as their city, that travels among the clouds and floating islands. Their technology and society developed very quickly and left their tribal counterparts in the dust so to speak in terms of modern advancements.
