A little of both

me i think sleeping in suit is far less damaging to the suit than just standing in suit. A) the weight of the suit is not all on your shoulders. B) lay down uses less energy,, which means less sweat which leads to less stink C)people roll around on dirty floors and do crazy more dangerous stuff in suit, so sleeping in suit should be the least of your worries. D) in the winter they are much warmer and more convenient that standard blanket because you are wearing it and not just under it (i mean sure you if it is really cold fursuit plus a blanket might be a really nice combo.) E) as long as you take care and don't abused a suit, it can last for a long time.
