Here's the time lapse recording of working on this picture, which is compressed from 5+ hours to about 7 minutes. I've provided links in the video to the music I used, and the special brushes I acquired to make this, with a few exceptions of easily made brushes.

The PSD contains the original document, as well as the source layers before I merged the subject for painting on a single layer. Hopefully it's useful for those wondering what blending modes I use, etc.

Great video!! It's nice how you don't fixate on one piece of detail but move around and come back to other parts as the figure comes together. This is something I learned in ZBrush and need to apply to my drawings more. I had a bad habit of finishing a drawing only to realize the head was too big or an arm too small then I would use Photoshop to resize and reposition everything after the fact. This made doing sketch pad drawing at cons impossible.
Once again, awesome painting and thanks for sharing this video!!

This was a gorgeous video of how you do your work. Back and forth and back an forth. I was so impressed as I usually am.
One quick question if I may......do you art in a specific order (ex: sketch, line, base color, shading) or do you kinda wing it and eye drop a lot more so?
Either way amazing work as always. Thank you for sharing this example of your skills.

Thanks so much for posting this! I've already picked up a few new things by slowing it down in certain parts and seeing what adjustments you were making. I spend a lot of time on feather detail (which is nice in certain applications) but I love how you get such life-like "suggested" detail from your treatment of light/color/texture without bogging down too much. It's quite superior. It's cool to see your order of painting too and how simplified your layers are.
This is extremely (I mean *extremely*) cool of you to be offering these things to the public. I have tremendous respect for people who share their knowledge. I know it's not a smart money-maker and will probably invite all sorts of abuses to your art, but these are pale in view of the big picture.
Thank you so much for your good mojo. May you enjoy success in all you do.
