This is a nearly finished model that represents a early Swiss Mirage III interceptor. This is a Italian built kit that is to represent a Mirage III-E.
The Mirage III was the French solution to supersonic flight, being a late 1950's, early 1960's era interceptor that featured a tailless delta wing that was popular at the time. If countries were unable to obtain US, or Soviet hardware, they often turned to the French for aviation purposes, the Mirage III being a success by being flown by nations such as Israel, Switzerland, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, and South Africa.

A lot of early Mirage III's had the red scallop design on their air intakes. The early French, Swiss, and Israeli -III's had them before they were camouflaged.
