You remember Rukey? These assholes would be his parents; Howard-John "Hank" Lop (Lopunny) and Lulu Riez Lop (Lucario). Hank was a country boy, and the only member of his family to leave Solaceon and go to college. For the record, he was also the only member of his immidiate family to get past elementary school, but that's another story. Lulu came from a very rich, prestigious family. However, she was a crud student, and only got into a good college through her parents' money. And everyone knew this. Plus, she was a total bitch to everyone around her. So you can imagine she wasn't well-liked. She and Hank met in college, because he was the only one who would sit within three feet of her in the cafeteria, mostly because there hadn't been the Lucario-Gardevoir shirt revolution, and she had to wear button-downs. And after she calmed down a little and stopped being such a bitch to him, they got to talking. Hank had dreams of staring his own chain of office-supply stores, and Lulu was highly amused with the thought of this little country dipshit trying to achieve anything whatsoever in his lower-middle class meaningless life, so she stuck around. Hank was enamored with her, and she sensed this and strung him along. They sort of half-dated for a while, then broke up, then became friends with benefits, then called that off, then started dating again...until Lulu transferred. You see, Lulu wasn't especially bright, but she was good at memorization, loved to argue, and was a bitch...so she went to law school. She preserved some genuine affection for Hank, though, and the two continued to communicate/visit. Well, Hank graduated with liberal arts, went into some office job. Lulu became a lawyer, and, consecitively, even more of a bitch.
They got married. Then Lulu forgot to take her pill for a couple of days, and wham. They had a kid. Being the busy people they were, they decided that they were not equipped to take care of a kid. So for the most part, they left him with Hank's parents, good 'ol Nana and Pop-pop, who had moved to the city a while back. Then, for unknown reasons, Lulu had him moved to some of Hank's relatives living in Saffron City, and immediately broke ties with them.
A few years later, Hank and Lulu had another kid, this time mostly on purpose. And that was Rukey. Rukey did fine for the first four or five years, then things went to hell. Hank lost his job, couldn't get a new one, fell into a slump, started drinking and gambling a lot. At the same time, Lulu got a promotion of sorts, was making more money than him, and was constantly under stress. The two started fighting constantly. Hank would get drunk, say some shit, Lulu would get drunk, beat the crap out of him...and their crying 5-year-old would huddle in the corner, frantically clutching the family Purugly and telling her to make it stop. Nana and Pop-pop saw to stop this madness, and took him whenever it got too much, they took him. So, ever since he was a toddler, Rukey has been juggled back and forth between his parents and grandparents. His maternal grandparents also wanted a go at him. They were estranged from Lulu for a while, until she had her second child, who had the proper Riez look (white eyelids, dark blue markings, abreviated face mask). So Lulu's family cut her a deal. As long as they trained him, and made sure his last name was Riez, the clan would pay for all his expenses. And Riez training is pretty brutal. So all his life, Rukey was straining to be accepted, as his maternal grandparents still treat him with some suspicion. His mom is brusque and cold, his dad is usually depressed. Nana and Pop-pop are pretty much all he has, and they recently gained legal guardianship of him. They love him and spoil him rotten. Nana always wanted a granddaughter, so she tends to teach him 'girly stuff.' He knows how to knit, make doilies, and sort-of-almost-cook. Pop-pop always wanted a grandson, so he knows how to fish and drill and he can fill up a gas tank. Rukey also became really...really nice. Like; if you step on his foot he apologises for being in your way. Seeking approval 24/7 will do that to you.

I held a little contest a (long) while back, on whose parents fellow PCA-ers would like to see more of. Rukey's and Karma's parents tied for 2nd place.
