Please say hello to our baby shingleback, Sarah :D She's named after the land Before time character because
A) she's a mean little thing
B) she kinda looks like Sarah D:
we've had her for a few months now, grown from a baby the size of my hand to a fat baby the size of my forearm. She enjoys killing grapes, and lettuce leaves (yes she does eat lettuce like a t-rex, shaking her head back and forth), catching snails and falling asleep on your shoulder.
I'll try and post the other lizards sometime but i've never gotten a photo as epic as this, thanks to a personal friend and her epic camera

That's just adorable. She's a species of skink, right? LOVE the blue tongue.
I sometimes want to own a leopard gecko or a skink, then I remember how utterly irresponsible I am when it comes to living things despite being a zoologist (I can barely keep my plants alive). I better just admire them in the zoo.

Oh no not only do you draw LaytonxEm but you also own a SHINGLEBACK. I'm crying inside. I love these guys and I've been pining over trying to own one for awhile now, but they are woefully difficult to get in the States :( I've been trying to do research but turning up with very little. Everything I find is either not feasible, the breeder won't sell/can't sell or each individual is $5000+.
They are so cute and I hope I can have one or two someday <3

thankfully within a decade they should become more accessible in most parts of the states, from what i hear in stateside reptile news :V they only breed once a year and only one baby D: you'll get more from beardies and snakes and thats why they're more common, even here shinglebacks are rare and expensive which is why i breed them (we're expecting a babeh in Feb. eeeee!) i can sell one baby for 120$ (other lizard babies sell for 40$) its hard to let them go though, such cuties <3
I WISH I could buy one or 2 from you if you were ever in a position to sell, but I don't think I'd be able to import him here to the US due to animal laws :( And yeah... there's just not enough of a breeding population yet but if it gets better in the next decade that would be nice. I really love them.
i'd need a license and i think they're around 10,000$ a year :| and shit you not if i want to get a common as hell ball python i need a zoological license of $200,000
i haven't named my new breeding pair yet so I'm totally going with Herschel and Emmy. HAH. HAHAH. shinglebacks are boofy, squirmy little sausage babies, whats not to love ;A; its currently breeding season so our big boy likes to take long walks with his girl, its precious. then when she curls up under her rock he climbs ontop of her and lays his big head on hers. I need to take more pics of them arrrghgargh
