PREVIOUS -STEP 9- NEXTNow its time to fur! I like to fur the ears first, than apply fur to the face. To fur the ears you first need to get the pattern for your ears, so all you have to do is use duct tape and cover the area you wish to fur. I recommend on the ears when you apply the tape first put the tape on your skin, then apply to the head (Usually on the upper arm, or where there isn’t any hair). The oils in your skin will weaken the tapes grip, and because the ears are a more sensitive area, this helps prevent the tape from ripping off chunks of foam when you remove it.
Once you have applied the tape to the ears, use a marker to draw on the pattern to the ear; then using your exact-o blade, slowly cut off each piece. Lay the pattern to your fur sticky side up, and cut the fur out using the blade (Not scissors! You don’t want to cut the fur itself, just the material) making sure the fur is going in the correct direction. Using your trusty glue gun, glue on the outside of the ear first then the inside. If you glue the inner ear last it allows you to hide any glue goop that might accrue.
Next, attach tape to the entire head (front and back). Place the tape where you would want fur to be, don’t be afraid to put extra tape on the areas you’re not too sure about, for example, around the eyes and mouth. You can always cut away the extra fur later but you can’t add fur without making it look like a hodge-podge.
Once your head is all taped up nice, it’s time to draw on your facial markings using a marker. Just take a sharpie and draw on the markings; it helps to label each marking, what its color is, and the direction the fur should be going.
