It almost feels weird to be delivering a set of voice acting recordings this early after the convention! I only held this panel a little over a week ago!!
But even more, I actually added sound effects.
I attribute it to peer pressure. The first recording featured my friend
tazel doing his best to play a huge, menacing dragon. His natural voice was..... unconvincing. So I threw on a pitch shifter, a chorus doubler and a couple other effects and tried to make something that sounded much more badass than the raw recording. I think it worked, but after going to all the trouble of building that effect, I figured I might as well add a bit of foley. And heck, a couple sound effects would be nice. And well, we're here, so why not just do ALL OF THEM AAAAAUGH
This was actually super fun. Earlier this year, I picked up a bunch of extra sound design tools, including the Waves Diamond package and Native Instruments Komplete 9. Between those two packages, I've got a massive set of tools, so massive I'm still discovering what I can do with them. This was my first time using the Waves Doubler or the Absynth library to add a drone. And while I wouldn't say any of these mixes are really final master quality, it was ridiculous how quickly I was able to put together some fairly complete clips.
Anyway, hope you all enjoy! I do need to give a huge shout out to Garrett Biggerstaff on the Rainfurrest staff for inviting me out to host these panels. The Saturday panel was a massive success, with the room being so overfilled, I actually had the standing room attendees standing up at the front wall right with me. So hey, if there's any RF staff listening... maybe a bigger room next year? And maybe a 3 hour slot? :)
This was also the first time I had ever featured artwork with the script packages. A huge thank you to
pac for drawing 13 pictures to go along with 13 of the scripts. Was a big addition and certainly made the script packets more fun to flip through!
And finally, a huge thank you to Jill at the Bellevue FedEx Business Center who totally saved my bacon when she printed up 100 copies of my script in under an hour after the Tukwila FedEx Business Center failed to let me know their large volume copier was broken. Jill, you saved this panel!!!
This is just the recordings from the Saturday panel. Sunday panels to come shortly!

I'm typing this as I listen, and I gotta say, ive been catching some of your panels on FA and the voice actors just seem to get better and better; the added sound FX make SUCH a difference; I was really impressed with Dark's voice.
There's only one thing that kinda sorta bothers me. I have no script to read as I listen, and It makes me get a bit lost. Is there any way you could like, post links to each script so we could read along? That would be absolutely stellar.

Holy balls, thank you for thinking its a terrific idea. o.o
Hm...is it possible put the scripts on some type of site like dropbox or something, then post the links below your description of each scene and actors? Just a weird suggestion.
By the way, I didn't say it till now but I really enjoy these sessions.

I could certainly do that, but I've been meaning to get these recordings organized on a custom website anyway. This would just help me know where to start. Thanks for the suggestion!
And so glad you're enjoying these! They're a blast to record, and getting to be more fun to edit. It's just amazing what can be done now with so little equipment.

Oh okay, glad I could help then!
When im able to travel longer distances--the only con I can go to being CaliFur atm--I would be so freaking stoked to try out your workshop one day. Voice acting is something ive been meaning to get into forever, and I feel like id have a helluva time.

CaliFur, huh? I once held by Voice Acting Workshop at Califur yeeeears ago. The panel went well, but didn't have such a great time at the con, so I haven't gone back. But I really should give it another chance. I've got family down in SoCal, so gives me extra incentive to go down there. :)
I try to make the panel fun! That's the most important thing for me. The panel has changed a lot since I first started hosting them in 2010, with every change designed to make the panel more fun for everyone involved, whether listening or performing. I certainly hope that if you do come to one of my panels, you'll have a good time, too!

I saw a tweet from someone who didn't get a chance to perform. Was that you? I'm so sorry about that. :( Two hours used to be plenty of time to give everyone a chance to record, but I know with how big the cons are getting, it's becoming harder to get everyone up to the mics. RMFC solved the problem by just giving me a four hour block, though that was really exhausting for me! XD
I'm sorry you didn't get a chance to perform. Next time you come to one of my panels, give me a poke, and I'll make sure you get a chance to come up, okay?

Quite an amazing job you did on these! I kinda want to try out writing a script but with a bit of suspense and mystery solving. Every time I hear yours and
's scripts, it makes me want to give script writing a whirl. Also, not forgetting to mention that you did inspire me to write again after a number of years being in a slump. Really glad you got me back into it again.

I did that? Gosh, that's awesome to hear! And I would love it if you wrote a script! While I do enjoy writing my own scripts for the panel, it's a special pleasure to be able to bring other people's work. And it's a special challenge for me as a voice director to find an interpretation from another's story. If you need any help with it, let me know! I'd really love to share something from you in my panel!
Shataivian and I both have FAs, so when you get the chance, link us in.

Other than that, I'll give these a listen once I'm on a better computer at work tomorrow. We both had so much fun at that panel. You'll be hearing from us more and more.
