Ahh, this is dry enough to scan. 8D My second experimental paint doodle. 9" by 6" I took a little longer on this one (maybe 3 hour) and painted it in two or three layers.
I wanted to paint an ocean in which the mist of the wave crests took the shape of monsters.
My brother and I were talking about it (he said it looked like a comic cover) and we eventually determined that at night, after the ships had passed, the monsters come up out of the ocean waves and discuss philosophical truths with one another. He said it would be the only web comic he'd ever read.

My comments for this one are pretty much the same as on the green sea beast painting (minus the description in this one, of course), but here I feel that way even more strongly, since we have more context with which to rationalize what we see... That one farthest back especially would require more than a passing glance to verify.
I love the subtle touches of green in the waves. It took me a second to figure out that they were even there.
