I tried a new coloring technique on this one, and I'm extremely happy with the result. This to me is a large step in the right direction, and I'd like to know what you guys think of it.

Now that I'm home, I can comment on this proper. It is a tad amusing how I got here! I am kinda amazed I hadn't stumbled across your work before, and only noticed it more recently with the Icy commission going on. Though it's not my usual fare, I thought the style was pretty gorgeous to look upon and figured 'well, I'm looking for some new artists anyway to broaden my interests, why not?' Then I looked through the rest of the gallery and giggled when I realized that your interests lined up right with my own, and figured 'this should be fun!'
And oh hey, would you look at that; it sure was! I giggled at the unique design (I've never been much good at picking out clothes, so the checkered shirt was a pleasant surprise when I've always just done 'generic green shirt', 'generic black shirt', etc.) The sly smile and faint flush in her cheeks came out delightfully. The pants, well, hey, those will ALWAYS be fun. My only regret is that comics are so tough for you, because what I'd do to get two pages of Dragonair tail after seeing the details on these tearing pants! The tail, of course, is delightful (A lot of artists struggle with the first try on my ludicrous tails! Most think 'what, like four feet?' when I say 'insanely long', but you got it all right!) I also love how the gentle sheen came out on the skin - not overly shiny, but just enough luster to make for one heck of a piece.
Thank you for all your efforts! This turned out fantastic. <3

This is the best comment I've ever received, lol.
I'm glad you like it. I took a lot of risks with the way I did this. I did a lot of technical things I've never tried before with this and I think it turned out to be my best coloring job to date. I'm still very much learning, that much should be apparent in my gallery where my style has changed a lot throughout my short time on the site. The clothing and checkered pattern in particular was something I rarely ever do, and I struggled figuring out an intuitive way to do it on my end. The only thing about this piece that wasn't reinvented to me while drawing it was the sketch itself; from the inking, color, and shading... even the size of the canvas itself, I used techniques that I've been contemplating using for a while, and I'm glad I did.
Comics are really tough per se... they're just really time consuming, especially if they're full color, or even color. That could be chalked up to being inexperienced, naturally I'd become faster at doing these things eventually. Not that I mind comic commissions, I recently increased the prices of my comic commissions because they take so much time. I work a job, you know? At the very least I feel like I could get 3$ on the hour of my work... maybe that's low-balling it.
Thanks for your commission. ^^
