I think the writers of Harvey Birdman skewered this kind of thing best in their episode "Back to the Present"
Peanut: So where are you guys from? Florida?
George Jetson: No. We're from the future.
Elroy Jetson: The 21st century!
George Jetson: The magnificent far-off year of 2002!
Harvey Birdman: [looks at desk calendar of 2004] Really.

Well, the original series (20XX) went 9 games, Megaman X (21XX) went 6, and Megaman Zero (I think they mentioned it being 400 years after the X series) did 4 games. Then Megaman ZX (Distant future of the old series') came out, and it's had two so far.
Megaman Battle Network was a spinoff (so as far as I know, it's nowhere in the actual timeline), it did 6, and now they're doing Star Force, which has had two. (I don't count different versions of the same game as different games, even if they are trying to do the whole Pokemon thing here.)
Legends did 3 games (counting "The Misadventures of Tron Bonne", which was awesome), but again, another storyline, so it's not part of the main series.

I saw it when it came out. Saw all the episodes and I'm very old here born in 1965 and I was there during the decades of cartoons. From Yogi Bear Thundarr the Barbarian and A.L.F. man that was the good old days. I will remember Thundarr especially and for more geek points Thundar is on on Boomerrang on 12.00 am central time check your listing and time zones on this (FREE PLUG!!!!). Anywho I think i was helpful on the subject and many cool praises on your art.
Ahhh the golden age of comics and animation when you got your schedule for the SatAM cartoons in the centerfolds of the Marvel and DC comics published for that season.
Don't forget Flash Gordon, that series actually had its 2hr animated finale run during Primetime on Friday on NBC and before the final battle Flash and Lionman were talking about women and Lionman was waxing poetic on the joys of fur on the lion women. :D

The audio is marginal (low resolution), but otherwise it's manageable
