Put it this way... I finish Circles hoping to take some time to get my me art on. My company tells me the following day they are laying off my entire department.
The kicker is I relocated for this job and didn't even last a year...
Frustrating!!!!
So not gonna be a lot of artwork from me any time soon and commissions are going to continue to be on hold.

I know how that feels dude, but hey at least you are able to focus on finding something better for you that will make you much happier. If you relocated though couldn't you just try to find a way to get back to your old position? Anyway, nice art, and very very cool pose!
Well why not do this, get in touch with the people who have also been fired and maybe make your own company or something? And while you were laid off, you can use this experience to help you out and get you a nice new job. There's so many possibilities for you!
If they give people notification of their impending unemployment, people will start looking for another job and might quit before they have a chance to fire them, leaving the department understaffed and requiring that the company fill those positions and spend money. Companies don't care for their employees' welfares. Who cares if they're left in the lurch (or worse), so long as the companies make money?
I can relate. Moved between countries only to get later told "Oh yeah, we're closed down by the head office, you've got a week.". And finding a job towards the end of the year.
Mind if I ask what industry you work in? I could check if my current employer is looking for concept artists or the likes.

I am all over the place.. just changed careers into UI/UX Designer/Coder. Before that I was artist in the game industry for about 12 years everything from 3D to 2D and Flash and FX. Hence the companies always going down the toilet. I left the game industry because of the instability / working WAY too many hours. The funny thing is the art I make for here and Circles is like 5% of what my career actually is.
is that where you keep your wallet?
*hugs* I hope things look up for you soon. I quit working for other people. I worked for 20 years and it was always bullshit. Now I own my own company, I dont make lots of money but I make enough to survive and it's slowly increasing. I just had to find a way to monetize my creative abilities as a freelancer. Best decision I've ever made. I'd rather be happy than wealthy.
Good luck to you.

yeah that is why I changed careers from games to UI/UX.. jobs seem to .. well did seem to be more sane.. to have more time to work on my own artwork etc etc. But yeah I am in the same boat.. if I could figure out what I want to do / make money doing that thing... would be on board with that over making lots of money.
I knew I should've gave you this piece six months ago...
