Brandon woke up with a yawn. Sitting up to stretch he noticed that his roommates weren’t in their beds.
“Guess I’m the last to wake up.” Brandon said to himself.
He hopped from the bed and began pulling out his clothes for the day. Just as he was putting on his hoodie he heard the door open and saw Fayt walking in.
“Morning, Fayt.” Brandon said.
The fox looked up and smiled. “Morning, Brandon. Did you sleep alright?” As he made his way for the couch in the room Brandon noticed the cup of coffee in his hands.
“Yeah, I slept alright.” Brandon replied. “Where are Kyo and Kiba?”
Fayt shrugged his shoulders. “Not really sure, I know Kiba was trying to find more info on are mark. As for Kyo, I’m not sure.” He said as he took a sip from his coffee, which he immediately stopped and gave a sour expression.
“What’s wrong?” Brandon asked.
“It’s cold,” Fayt said as he held the cup in his hand a small red glow appeared at the bottom.
Brandon immediately sensed the fire heating up the liquid in the cup and soon the fox was sipping from it again, this time satisfied.
“You’re magi?” Brandon asked.
Fayt looked surprised at his question. “Well more of an elementalist, I don’t really consider myself a spell caster. But you know about elementals right?”
“Huh?”
“Bright red fur, it means you’re a fire elemental right?”
“Yeah, just not many people know about that.” Brandon said.
“Well in this line of work you need to be well informed. And Kiba makes sure we’re always prepared.”
“Alright, well I’m going to get some breakfast.” Brandon said. Just as he was heading out the door he thought he heard someone whispering. “Fayt, did you say something?”
“Hmm?”
The fox shook his head and went back to drinking his coffee. Brandon listened around the room but couldn’t hear anything else and so made his way out of the room.

After he was finished eating, Brandon made his way towards the lobby. It was a big room with several couches and a glass table in the middle. There was also a large fireplace and above it a large flat screen television that was currently showing a documentary of Koga’s royal bloodline.
Being a history whiz, Brandon would normally just sit and listen to the whole program something was making him feel uneasy. He had this feeling since he heard the whispering in his room.
“Something wrong?”
Brandon looked up and saw his roommate, Kyo standing over him.
“Sort of, but it’s hard to explain.” Brandon said.
“Is it your lycanthropy?”
“Wh-what!?” Brandon stuttered.
“You’re a werewolf, right? Kiba said you were.” The cat said as he sat down to Brandon’s right.
“How does he know?”
“He said you looked familiar and did some research on you. Brandon Firestone: Keeper of Fire, lycanthrope, shaman, S.T.F. agent, and the son of Rothos.”
“Okay and that doesn’t bother you?”
“Should it?” Kyo asked. “I don’t really understand social norms like I should but from what I’ve read you’re not a bad person. Kiba just thinks it’s strange that you’re in Koga.”
“Alright, but can you just not mention the werewolf bit out loud please? Not everyone takes that well.” Brandon said.
“Sure, you can count on me.”
Brandon felt relieved but was also a bit concerned that these mercenaries found out about him so easily. Even the part of who his father was should have been classified.
Before he could think on it anymore a scream was heard outside. Both Brandon and Kyo leapt from their seat and ran towards the sound of the scream. When they arrived at the scene there was an eagle couple running from the scene. The female eagle was supporting the male eagle, who looked like he had taken a beaten.
“Hey, what happened?” Brandon asked.
“Ah… some rat came out of nowhere and attacked us!” The woman said.
“Where?” Kyo asked.
“By the fountain but--”
Kyo was running before she even finished. Brandon followed and as they got closer he began to feel that sinister presence again.
“Kyo, wait up!” Brandon shouted. “I don’t think we’re dealing with a normal guy here.”
“I know,” Kyo replied.
He knew? What did that mean? But Brandon soon found his answer when they saw the fountain. Floating. In mid-air.
“Lee!” Kyo shouted.
Brandon was so focused on the fountain he didn’t even see the white cat who was lifting it. The cat was obviously using telekinesis, but that didn’t explain why he was doing it. It also didn’t explain why his eyes were glowing blood red when he turned to face them.
“Get out.” The cat said as he raised his hands and sent the fountain hurling at them.
