Made from a $1 pool noodle and part of an old metal coat hanger. Roughly 4.5 feet long and crazy-bouncy. This one's hollow in the middle and will be attached to a grommet belt (as seen here: http://www.findcoolclothes.com/prod.....rommetbelt.jpg ) via a CD spindle (it's the right size to fit inside the hollow middle and will give a nice solid base to work from).
I'm making a dragon partial (heads-hands-tail and possibly feet). The head's foamed but still a WIP, will upload later. Other parts not even attempted yet.
how to maek 1 urself:
Go to store (mine was Dollarama, but buggered if you yanks have any of those down south). Purchase pool noodle(s).
Get electric carving knife (I got one for $10 at the super market).
Get sharpie marker and put dots on as reference points to where you're going to cut so it doesn't end up all crooked and fail. This is easier than it seems... I marked it up while under a strong light. The pool noodle, much like a 3D model, isn't perfectly round, and light will reflect along its straight sides all the way down.
Cut wedges out of the tail's underside at an interval close to this one. Do not make wedges deeper than half the thickness or else I fear it'll just snap off. This tail will be reinforced with fabric hotglued inside the cuts, but I have lost my glue gun and must locate it first. The cuts on the side are shallower than those on the underside, as I wanted to avoid weakening the attachment points too much.
Leave the last 12"-18" alone for now. Grab an old metal coat hanger slightly longer than the tail tip part and cram it up the hollow middle part. Trim the tip as I did and bend until desired curve is obtained. The reason you want the coat hanger to be just a few inches longer than the tail tip is so it'll go past into the section next to it and not pop loose all the time.
I will later make a sort of giant sock-like tail covering out of polar fleece (the idea of this suit is to not spend more than $50 making it) and stuffing it a bit so it'll taper off more than it currently does.
Tail tip to be made out of gray fuzzy yarn, in the spirit of a lion tail.

oh hai 2 u beastcub!
Don't change the head, looks super. I'd just trim the bodyfur a bit if you even wanted to go that far.
How did you made the first feet? Go any WIP pics? I like the way they curve up and look like real animal paws.
Um, I assume you know what I'm talking about >.>

For my next tail I'm going to try a bike chain. My mate's brother is a bike courier and goes through chains like there's no tomorrow so I'm sure I can scam one he's not using anymore (over time, bike chains stretch and fall off the gears, which is no good if the entire point of your job is to ride your bike). So you can either buy a new chain for $10, or you can make friends with someone who does bicycle repairs and score some for free, since they just throw out the old ones anyway.
I found that if you hold a chain at the right angle, they'll stay up and only flop around side-to-side just like a dinosaur's tail. I'm gonna experiment with this and upload some pictures once I get a prototype going on. The original pool noodle idea here was pretty good, but I like to try different things to see what happens. You might want to check back here later to see how it goes :P
