Got some better pics. This was post-dinner and playtime, so he's a little pooped. He is IMPOSSIBLE to get pictures of when he's moving, he turns into a little blur :P
Ok 'little' is subjective, I guess.
This is Claymore! He's the newest addition to my family, my second dog. I just picked him up last night, so I'm just getting to know him today. So far he seems smart, a little shy, and very much a velcro-dog. He follows me absolutely everywhere, and insists on sleeping as much on top of me as possible. This will probably become a problem as he grows, considering how big he's going to get :P
I've started basic training for him today, and even his first time out, he seems to take to the leash really well. He's gotten the hang of house training fairly quickly, too. . . I think he's going to be a fast study.
Claymore is 3/4 Irish Wolfhound, 1/4 Alsatian. He was the (unwanted) result of an IW breeding with the wrong dog, which in the end, was really fortunate for me, because I've always wanted a wolfhound, but I'm not a 'pure bred dog' kind of person. He's a mutt like every other dog I've had :)
His personality seems stellar so far, and I can't wait to see what kind of dog he's going to grow up to be! He should reach 120 lbs. or so, but. . . upon seeing him myself, I think the woman who had him may have been underestimating :P He is monstrously big for 10 weeks old.
The woman who had the litter warned me that he was, and I'm quoting her here directly, 'an ugly puppy'. Personally, I think he's one of the most gorgeous puppies I've ever seen. I guess it's just a matter of perspective :P

That is one big puppy =)
my aunt has Irish wolfhounds always have and yeaaaah just from the looks from pics I'm going to say your pup will probably get bigger than 120 lol
sad that the woman called him an ugly pup =( I guess that's a breeder for you though. The dogs that don't "turn out right" are the unwanted dogs and labled ugly and not good dogs.
Enjoy your puppy =3 he's adorable!

He's adorable, and almost anyone who isn't hung up on purebreds can tell you from experience that while training is half the battle, mutts are inherently more emotionally stable and trainable than pure-breds.
Case in point: Rottweilers, Dobermans, Pinschers, Dalmations, German Sheperds, Poodles, Chihuahuas. More people get hurt every year in this country from any ONE of those breeds alone, than half of ALL mutts/mixed breeds combined.
Mixing the genes up means a more stable dog. Just like alloying metals, or blending spices, you get a stronger, more useful end-product.

Cute puppy. If he has big paws at that age he will be massive when he is full grown. Just hope he doesn't lose his brains like my Labrador did. My lab kind of went stupid in the head but he was very good at making people think he was starving when we fed him really well. Be sure to post pics of him growing up and of him doing something entertaining.
That looks like a decently sized dog. And one that totally looks a great company just at a first glance.
Congrats! But I suspect you are in for some rough times when the playful puppy in him kicks in... Unstoppable energy and that.
Just a silly idea... Planning to get him fit as a fiction character for one of your future stories? That would be awesome too Hehe.

He sounds like a sweetheart! Oof, with that mix he sure is going to be a big boy. As far as the "ugly" comment, that's totally in the eyes of the beholder. The fellow we got our husky girl from had emailed us with a 'major' problem before she was ready to come home with us... She has blue eyes. His attitude about it really shocked us.
Heh, sounds like my dog Tucker, around hundred pounds (some is fat from being spoiled by my parents). He's a mutt, we were told parents were a Pit Bull and German Shepherd mutt. Think there's some Lab too. He looks like an American Staffordshire and Pit Bull mix, but with the height of a Labrador. Honestly, he's got almost no GSD traits.
Our other dog, Annabelle, is about 70 pounds and also a mutt, a GSD retriever mix. She's the one who barks at everybody. A bit timid at times. Think she might've had a previous owner with some anger issues.

oh as a heads up they grow FAST and still think they are a puppy when they get full grown and 120 pounds can be the average, our one dog chubs head was like a football and a half put together. Food a foot and a half from the table edge will never be safe again, crotches will all be at nose level, table legs will get chewed, and good lord they can drool when they hit the water dish. They are tons of fun love to run and man they put the fear of god into things that you don't want near you.
