Uzshoks. Not exactly a tribal group, and the Uzshoks aren't the most common of sights upon the Altec. That's not to say they you may never come across one or two - often times carousing in one of the bars of downtown Zamerkesh.
They travel along the southern end of the Tartani river and as far along the outer coastal areas as their captains dare. Generally speaking they prefer to steal shipping goods and supplies from trade outposts, barges and freight haulers, or occasionally striking at one of the larger coastal ports if they can muster up the numbers. Thankfully those are rare what with large scale raids tending to involve things like 'working with others' and 'sharing', not their best of traits to be sure.
The Uzshoks crew small-fast moving boats capable of traveling into very shallow waters and up riverways. One might find them in the possession of the occasional Sloop, rigged for shallow running and armed to the teeth, such vessels are a rarity as the Uzshoks tend to prefer speed and maneuverability over firepower for their vessels.
Even still it should be cautioned that while their small boats can appear to pose no real threat. This is usually a deception, one that becomes a very nasty surprise the moment some hidden deck guns pop up from concealment and your vessel is being boarded by these swaggering thugs.
Raiding tactics consist of getting in close and boarding their targets quickly using the element of surprise or in some cases beaching their craft on the shoreline near their target, allowing their raiding parties to come ashore quite rapidly.
Despite their dishonest lifestyle and hostile manner, I've come to find the Uzshoks have a very - albeit like the Kurgan, fickle - code of honor. It's never been known for them to participate in wanton slaughter and while they are given to engaging in violent acts they do tend to avoid harming the unarmed. I can also say they're quite taken with extortion - having had to forfeit two months wages and a bottle of Inszar cognac to the grinnin' ne'er-do-wells. At least the bastards let me have a taste before making off with it.
