October is a good time to post this, so meet Mal and her feline familiar, Soot! I created her because I wanted to paint a werewolf with iridescent black fur, inspired by the Common Grackle bird, and she ended up with a bit of a back story. I sat on the finished art for a couple months until I came up with a name for her.
Mal is a bit of an outcast. In her world werewolves and witches don't mix, and she happens to be both. She completed enough of her witch's apprenticeship to be pretty handy with magic, and continued teaching herself after she was bitten and subsequently banished from her town. She's learned a number of pretty cool spells, including one that allows her to shift at will. She can also turn into a cloud of Grackles briefly! She pretty much wants to be left alone, holding a lot of resentment for the society which refused to help her when she needed it most, and cast her out to live or die in the woods alone.
Her familiar, Soot, is not happy with his witch being turned into a werewolf. He's been a bit jumpy since the event, at which he was present. He is very loyal, and followed her into exile. All the other familiars make fun of him for his witch's predicament, but he does keep moderate contact with the witch world through them. There are still a few willing to do a favor or two for him.

This is a really neat character with a rather intriguing backstory. Being shunned by both the witches whose lives you used to be a part of and by werewolves who despise what you've become sounds like a terribly lonely fate.
The art itself is beautiful, and I love the natural-looking iridescence of the fur. You draw humans really well, and she's a beautiful girl.

Ack, so much love for this design + the story behind the character!
Well done! I love how her being caught between two worlds, werewolf and magic, makes me relate to her.
I dunno, I don't usually look twice at werewolf things these days, but it's nice to see a refreshing take on one.
Plus, I adore her 'Nervous familiar, Soot'. ^^ It's all so well done, I'd love to learn more about her!

Okay...this has so many things that I love I just can't let it pass without a comment. AHEM.
1) Werewolf - This is the big one. Werewolves are my favorite of any kind of mystical creature. Love the fuckin things so much my OWN CHARACTER IS ONE. XD Werewolves are friggin cool, and you get bonus points cuz it's a girl. Why? Well not only do I love the pretty ladies, but lady werewolves are usually some of my favorites, mainly cuz I love a girl that can kick ass. (Shoutout to Samus for the fuckin win!!! ^^)
2) Cat - As a guy with two cats myself, I love the inclusion of Soot. Soot here is actually a pretty badass lil fella honestly, for multiple reasons; A) He's a cat, with a witch...come on that's perfect X3 B) He's a cat with a gal that turns into a giant DOG...(Wolf yeah I know but same dif XD)that's perfect!!! C) He's a black cat. A Black cat, with a witch, that turns into a black dog...PERFECTION THY NAME IS SOOT!!! X3
3) Human form - So many artists(Myself Included) forget to actually showcase the human form that much. You've not only showcased her here, but you've done so TWICE, giving us a version of her in her normal clothes, as well as one in her undergarments to show off that cool leg marking(tattoo, scar, or birthmark? Might've missed that if ya put it down anywhere XD) Kudos to ya bud!
4) Witch - I'm usually on the fence with witches. Some I love, some I don't care for. Our lovely lady here, EASILY hops down from the fence and casually strides into the camp of other things I find badass, pours herself a cup of coffee, sits with the rest of the gang like nothin's new and starts shootin the breeze with em about how awesome it is to be awesome.
5) Dat glisten doh - Friend, can I call ya friend? Schweetness -w- I have to say, I have barely EVER seen a glisten affect put on a werewolf, and when I DO, it's mostly just a light one. Yours is not only prominant, but it makes our furry friend here look FUCKING BADASS AS SHIT. Seriously, THAT, is awesome!!!
6) Pretty - This is the one that sticks out to me the most aside from the werewolf bit that drew me in from the thumbnail. Mal is pretty in her human form; this, while a difficult task, becomes easy to pull off with enough work, plus there are so many references one can use to make a human character pretty. Hell, we all ARE human (At least I think so, Bob's been actin fishy now that I think about it...*slips on tin foil hat and pulls out blow-dryer ray gun for self defense*) so we can just look outside, or on the internet and BOOM we've got plenty of examples of what to do/what NOT to do when we wanna make someone look good. The thing that really makes me smile though, the thing that made me slow-clap before typing this book of text, is the fact that not only is her HUMAN form striking, but her wolf form, the form that is supposed to be her bestial monstrous state, also retains her beauty. Even though she's changed so radical, without even looking at her leg and the marking on it, someone who knew her, be they friend or foe, would almost certainly recognize her.
All in all, Mal here is pretty much everything I love in a werewolf character. It looks like you put actual EFFORT into her, and you've honestly motivated me to alter my own personal OC to make him look less like a clone of other characters I like, regardless of how cool I think they are. Kudos to you my friend, and I hope this message didn't fall under your category of tl;dr XD

Ooooh! I really like how you handled the "Grackle" black hair and fur colors. I once painted up a large figure of a "Quange" horse Centaur I built in "Raven Black" which took about three coats of primer, a color undercoat, a clear gloss coat, a thin, thin coat of heavily thinned iridescent blue nail polish, then a flat coat of lacquer over that. The effect was rather stunning.
