Player of the Game: J. Utsu (2-4, 1 3B, 1 HR, 2 RBI)
With the pressure mounting on the expansion Bracebridge Bombers, Game 5 showed that there seem to be cracks forming in their stellar offense as the Swamp Foxes relied on their deep pitching staff once again to frustrate them. Though the Bombers racked up more hits in the game, led by right fielder Jirik Utsu who knocked in both runs, the hits all came in short spurts, leaving manager Zikor Likand (BBB/Direwolf/MGR) nearly frothing at the mouth at the end of the game. The biggest hole is Triple Crown winner Ty Vulpintaur (BBB/Foxtaur/2B) continuing to dig deeper into a postseason hole. It was pitching again that seems to keep the Foxes up, as late acquisition starter Ryan Mansfield (CHA/Lynx/SP) set the table with only a single earned run and Janita Olivares seeming to use her embarrasment last year to fuel her fire as she pitched a gem of a 1-2-3 inning with two strikeouts to close the game. The series moves to Bracebridge on Saturday, giving the Bomers hope for a come from behind.
