Copy-pasted description from my deviantart - I ish so lazy -w-
This is the second drawing of Flamix I have done in his brand new style makeover! I actually am really happy with how this came out - I haven't spent this much time on a single drawing in ages. I got the original inspiration for this from a song that I became really obsessed with recently by Afrojack, which I really think was an overlooked song from his most recent album. It is one of those songs that for me I can listen to it again and again and never get tired of it. I'm irritated that because it isn't that popular the lyrics I could find posted have horrible mistakes despite the real lyrics being so incredibly obvious just from listening to the song a couple times.
I wanted to do a drawing that would try to show what it would be like if I could be free from all of my limitations, my incredible shyness and difficulty with bullying over the years that keep making me want to recess into my own world away from everyone part of the time. I also have always wished I could fly, mainly ever since I got really into Tails - and the song I was originally inspired by to make this sort of drawing I feel very much embodies the idea of breaking free and at the same time fits with my fursona's fire powers:
Would you die for a taste
of a heart that maybe matters?
And desire on your faith
without fear of what you're after?
Somewhere you keep all your halos,
scared of what they don't know
Open up your window shades...
and illuminate
Illuminate
Let nothing in your way
Illuminate
Go on and shine on!
(Sample of lyrics from "Illuminate" by Afrojack and Matthew Koma Album: Forget the World)
This drawing sort of represents me as I am on the inside. I spent so much time trying to get this to look just right - with the flames Flamix is projecting from his claws and the yellow glow around him - I even was able to draw the feet the way I wanted to and made some slight changes to how I draw the fur on several areas. I also needed at least one practice drawing of him directly from the front, even though the original thing I set out to do was to both rework my design and my ability to draw nothing but this angle.
Let me know what you think, I spent several hours on multiple occasions to get this finished!
