Construction continues on the tail.
Here I'm using braided tubing as a center support for each of the vertebrae. It has good torque resistance and is fairly flexible. (UPDATE: good torque resistance, but not nearly enough. It's uncontrollable at longer lengths such as this tail. Need to switch back to what I was using for the old version) I also discovered that the set screws included with the conduit adapters were too short for my purposes. In my case the screws had a 10-24 thread, so I just bought a pack of replacement screws that were a bit longer.
In total there are 10 discs. Why 10? The adapters were sold in a 10 pack. Also so were the replacement screws. Leaving a length at one end of the tube for tapering the tail to a point, as it is a mouse tail, and using the oh so scientific spacing of one hand width at the knuckles, I get a tail length that I think looks good and the discs are close enough together to have the mechanical force I'm wanting. At least, I think they will. Testing on that will be coming soon.
