Hey FA! I got permission from the current highest bidder to go ahead and resumbit this, since I posted it at an awkward time (plus, the comments got a little convoluted, so I'm cleaning those up too!)

Crag dragons are massive reptiles that sprout thick clusters of minerals over their bodies, the symbiotic rocks growing with them as they age. Young crag dragons are able to fly and are rather agile, but the older they get the bigger and more numerous the crystals become, eventually grounding them permanently. Provided they're in a habitable area, crystals will continue to grow even after death, leaving glittering skeletons stretched as far as the eye can see.
Normally these guys tend to be rather drab earth tones, with semi-transparent crystals, but this one is bright and saturated orange - probably from eating pumpkins!
