No, Shiro and Shadow are not a couple, their relationship is similar to how he was with Maria (besides that, shiro is taken)
He's over protective of Shiro since he doesn't want her to die or get hurt in anymore
eventhough she can handle herself, he refuses to take her on missions with him, so they hardly ever see each other anymore, but he occassionally checks up on her so she wont feel abandon, even when hes in the middle of an important mission, he'll see her if he feels like he needs to
