This is the beginning stages of a semi-portable desktop for use while sitting in an easy chair. Eventually this will be attached to an arm alongside the chair where it can be easy attached to a portable Wacom Cintiq. In this image you can see the carved surface in addition to the deeper air channel that allows air along every trough. When the laptop is used with the Wacom the cover is typically closed, reducing the air surface around the keyboard. I had to take the part outdoors to get enough light so the depth of field would be deep enough to make the picture detailed. The 120mm fan is big enough that it can be driven at 5v while still delivering a lot of air movement and remaining quiet.
