Ah, looks like you're going for a Cave Story look. The main problem is contrast; there's several shades of brown that blend in together, and some of the lines are jagged, especially in the wing. Also, are the feet supposed to be pointed inward?

Oh, the actual artist who did this wasn't too serious about this piece in particular. Its more like a very rough draft; I myself changed a few thing for style. In reality his other works are far better than this, especially when he adds fine detail and shading/depth. I wouldn't call this his "good" work. Its a shame he doesn't have an FA since he'd rather remain anonymous but I can assure you this isn't anywhere near the talent he has
