You're not that far from the truth!
Initially, I'd planned on a simply color contrast to show the difference between Jace's soldier side (left) and mercenary side (right). Deep red for the left side (courage and determination, but also war) and green for the right side (safety and protection, but also money).
The poster's supposed to be pseudo-chronological from left to right, just as Jace goes from soldier to merc, and showing where these supporting characters come into play.
You could say that it's a spectrum from dark to light, or bad to good, but it would probably be most accurate to show it as a spectrum from chaotic to lawful.
In that sense, and as far as light and dark, the characters in the middle certainly stand in the grey area.

That's Cera, Anna's fellow bartender at the Glass Half Full.
You can see her a bit in Welcome Home and Bartender Chatter
I've got plans to include her more in future stories as well.

I see Jace himself has already addressed your thoughtful comment, ladyfriend, but I figured I would thank you for commenting and tell you that you definitely picked up on the right idea with him having two different sides. Poor Jace. Just one of those good guys caught between two opposing sides.
You are quite welcome! :) Those are my favorite kinds of characters... they're so much more realistic to me. After all, very few of us are black and white, all good or all evil. And good people/characters can do some pretty shitty things, but it makes them human. It sounds like I'll have to check out his stories...
THANK YOU! Working on the lighting was fun on this one. I'm really REALLY trying to do more brave stuff with lighting.
These would probably start out at around 300 bucks AT LEAST. They are on larger paper and they are time consuming, but they are lots of fun when everything really starts falling into place.

I am so glad they remind you of the newer posters that were done by the Crown Prince of Sci-Fi and Fantasy Poster Art, Drew Struzan. He's one of my all time favorite illustrators/graphic artists, so I'm so happy that I managed to have the same kind of feel in my work. Thanks so much, Chaser!
Normally, I'd say something witty, but mostly I'm just thinking, 'wow'.
Seriously, I need a minute to just take this all in.
...
Okay, let's go clockwise around.
Jed the smirking beagle looks perfectly in-character, especially considering that his first written appearance will probably be something like this
Anabel, the lovely German shepherd reporter, seems well into an engaging interview.
I can't wait to show these two.
Anna... Well, I think she sells the piece. Armed, but relaxed, and holding her gaze with the viewer. That draws the eye to the ring in her hand, and I just realized that you've even added a glimmer of light reflecting off of it! My gosh, the detail!
Yet, my favorite part of the piece has got to be Cera and Max. A good teaser of things to come, and a stark contrast to the burning city pictured below. Almost more than Jace and Anna, I love these two.
You've shown off Jace's Guardian very well, and the man of the hour looks EPIC.
The color contrast at the top does a good job emphasizing the soldier / mercenary sides of Jace, but you took it one step further and added the glow of these colors to the characters on each side, which hints where each character comes to light.
I'm honestly astounded by the remarkable level of detail you've put into this, and I cannot thank you enough for helping me bring my stories to life.
Now I'm just trying to decide if the fiery silhouette or Jace's glaring smirk would be a better thumbnail for Jace's stories...

Bad news for you, I'm afraid."

Thank YOU for being such an awesome commissioner. You have been BEYOND patient, and it's more than I deserve so I am so very very happy that the end result has you so pleased. I can't wait to see what you and your friends do with these characters. NOW GIVE US MORE STORY! *shakes fist at you*
I actually had to look that one up. (I'm not very well-versed in extended-universe Star Wars. FOR SHAME!)
It might be similar, though I can't find any pictures of the ship, but on my end it was just one of a number of designs thought up by scythemouse and the end result was the Guardian
