Experiment time.
First I came up with a pattern based on a style/shape I created in Photoshop then heated and bended PVC pipe to follow the outer edges of the pattern. Then using a Cooking Channel cutting board, I drilled holes in it and mounted the pipe base to it using screws, lok-tite and clamps. I then affixed the cutting board to the backing of a back pack with adhesive, then secured it with more screws and lok-tite. After trimming the points of the screws off with a driml, I covered the area in black fleece. Everything is solid as hell. The PVC extension arms fit into the base and are held in with removable pins. The wings themselves are hallow with pleating. This will fit in any suitcase or action packer for shipping/transport.
