The evening sky illuminated the viridian forest with a orange hue as night was slowly approaching, though not all was peaceful as nearly a dozen pidgeotto circled one pine tree, chirping and screeching in annoyance near the top as on one large limp a massive purple serpentine shape could be seen.
The lower end of the Arbok's body lazily coiled around the tree trunk as the rest laid across the sturdy branch, he was massive compared to most other Arbok, as he would measure at nearly 15 feet long, his fanned out hood nearly 5 feet wide giving him quite the intimidating appearance.
But he wasn't here to steal eggs, no, this tree had no nests in it. The bird pokemon angry at him for not moving so they could build their nests, he simply laid there uncaring, even as they dive bombed him, pecking and scratching at him trying to drive him off. He didn't care though, sadness and depression had long since taken a toll on him from sheer loneliness.
He never hunted his species normal prey, in fact he never hunted at all. He preferred berries, something that got him ridiculed often by his siblings when he was younger, but none the less pokemon all treated him like a predator and ran in fear. None would even give him a chance to show how he was different, it was always the same, one would give a cry to warn all the pokemon there was a predator and they'd all run and hide from him.
Years of this finally wore him down as he had guessed he'd climbed up here to die maybe, even he wasn't sure what brought him up here, but again his species made the other pokemon fear and hate him as he closed his eyes wondering what he could of possibly done to deserve a fate so cruel.
He was confused though as he opened his eyes, no longer feeling the pecking or clawing of the birds, as he saw them flying away like something drove them off, or the gave up-
“Are you okay?” said a soft concerned voice, turning around he saw the most gorgeous female Dragonite hovering in the air across from him, freckle covered cheeks, and curved antennes along with a pair of cute white and pink socks on her legs with cute ribbons at the top of the socks as she was much smaller then the average dragonite.
He shot up to a sitting position as he saw her, she. . .actually asked him how he was? She was concerned for him?! He started to open his maw to speak till he heard a loud crack, he blinked and looked around for a divebombing pidgeotto but saw none, another louder cracking sound filled the air as he looked to the base of the branch he laid on.
No longer was his heavy weight evenly distributed along the branch but instead all focused on near the center of it with him standing, a panicked gasped escaped his throat as before he could grasp the trunk of the tree tightly enough to stop his fall the limp snapped and sent him crashed down. The noise carried for miles as he broke branch after branch on the way down, before crashing into the ground with a loud thud as he was buried under the branches.
She gasped loudly seeing this, though unable to stop his fall as she quickly flew down and landed by the pile of branches that buried him, trying to help dig him out though unknown to her, he was doing the same.
Arbok had his eyes closed, as the last thing he needed was a pine needle to the eye, pushing his head free from the pile with a gasp as his muzzle bumped into something, soft and warm as his eyes shot open and was staring directly into the Dragonite's eyes.
Heavy blushes rested on both their faces as their muzzles were pressed together in a accidental kiss, both too shocked and embarrassed to even think of moving before he quickly pulled away with a gasp and looked away shyly.
“I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean to do that! I just. . .” he tried to apologze as he looked back to see her blushing still as well, glancing away shyly as he couldn't help but feel his heart skip a beat. The way she so shyly glanced away, how the light seemed to sparkle in her eyes, left him utterly smitten by her.
“N-no don't be sorry.” she said again in her cute shy voice, looking to him with a warm smile, as her eyes looked along his body with a slight frown.
“Are you alright? Those birds scratched you good. . .” she said again in a worried tone, as along his body were dozens of scratches and bite marks from the birds and the fall.
“Oh! No don't worry I'm fine! Really, us Arbok are pretty quick to heal.” he said trying to calm her fears as he smiled happily to her with closed eyes, before looking to her.
“What brings you out here?” he asked curious and wanting to talk with her, about anything! He couldn't remember the last time he actually had a chance to talk to another pokemon. He wanted to talk to her about everything, he. . .wanted her to stay.
A smile filled her face, accepting his answer about his wounds as she'd heard Arboks have amazing regeneration powers, as she looked to him. “I was actually just exploring, I was. . .a little lonely at my home so I came out here to pass the time. That's when I saw you.”
Arbok frowned some as he heard that, lonely? Just like he was. But he couldn't understand how she was lonely, surely everyone would love her, want to be around her. But a smile appeared on his muzzle, lifting his tail and making a follow me gesture as he slithered off into the woods.
She was a bit confused by this, but followed. The woods were serene though oddly quiet as she walked beside him. “Where are we-” she was unable to finish the sentence as she gasped, they had just arrived to a grove full of Roseli berries which were the sweetest of every berry in the region.
“Oh my goodness!” she exclaimed and stepped closer noticing there were a lot of smaller and medium sized species happily eating, not seeming to mind her approach as soon as Arbok slithered out of the bushes, a watchog let out a loud cry of warning as the pokemon all scattered in every direction.
“No wait I. . . .” Arbok tried to calm them but they were all already gone, frowning as soon the grove was empty except the two of them. Lowering his head and closing his eyes with a sad sigh as all those feelings of loneliness were creeping back into him.
Of course all those thoughts disappeared instantly as he felt his face flush a bright red when she nuzzled up to him, Dragonite giving off a soft cooing sound. “Don't worry, they don't know the real you.” she said with a smile before picking some berries and held them out for him in her open palms.
“Here you go! So you don't have to get a mouth full of leaves trying to pick them.” she said as her words made Arbok blush and nod, smiling as he carefully ate the berries from her palm with a happy hiss, his tail wagging back and forth behind him like a happy growlithe.
The hours rolled by in a mix of laughter and telling of stories about where they were from, what they'd seen and done, he had never been happier honestly. He never wanted the day to end as night had fallen, but knew he had to show her this.
She had her eyes closed, holding onto his tail as he lead her deep into the forest. “Is it. . . .another berry field?” she guessed again to where he was leading her, a smile on her face as she too had enjoyed the day immensely.
“Nope, but we're here!” he said as he plucked a rose from a nearby bush and coiled around her from her legs up to her chest, leaving her arms free as his head was behind her now.
“Open them.” he said softly as when she did her eyes lit up as the moon illuminated a beautiful waterfall before them, the water sparking in the dim glow of the moon.
“It's beautiful Arbok. . . .” she glanced back over her shoulder as her face flushed red with a light blush, a single red rose in his maw as his cheeks too carried a blush. Holding it out for her as she touched her lips ever slightly with one claw, her heart pounding at such a romantic offering as she gently took the flower.
“Thank you.” she said before kissing him lightly on the side of the cheek, as they enjoyed the scene for another half a hour before he curled up his large body for her on the ground, letting her lay on him like he was a giant pillow as their heads rested side by side in a blissful slumber.
Arbok didn't know where this would lead, would their friendship blossom into more? Would they just remain friends? While he wasn't certain what the future held, he knew one thing was for certain.
