This is my interpretation of the purgatory, for a contest.
I mostly see purgatory as a place between heaven and hell, where the souls will have to stay for a while to decide they can go to heaven or not. In the flames some monsters are already waiting for them. That dude with the sword is an angel who will decide, but for now he protects them from the flames and monsters.

As a Christian, I've always believe in Heaven and Hell, but Purgatory I don't personally subscribe to. However, I don't believe that there is a Hell for animals; I believe God has a plan for all beings in creation,a place for them all in Heaven, even those that aren't human.
