Just in time for All Hallows' Eve, - a.k.a. Halloween - is my latest (and possibly my best) "Throwaway Gag"...
Many years ago, Fanimal drew an apropos Halloween gag with his two behemoths 'Rocky' and 'Hubert' - with each one sporting a 'pumpkin face' on their respective ginormous bellies! I'd promised myself that someday, I was going to do a similar rendering of a 'fat furry' character with a 'pumpkin face' painted upon his/her broad belly... Well, the weight (er, wait) is over!
Having seen JackThorn create 3-D versions of his jackal 'fursona' in various phases of fatness, I just couldn't resist having my bobcat 'fursona' dabble in a little 'body painting' on such a wide canvas! Using non-toxic spray paint (and asking his subject to remove his shirt), Rob applies a coat of orange on the lower half of the jackal bulging body (to simulate the pumpkin). After that paint dried (and the jackal put his shirt back on), the bobcat uses black paint to put on the 'pumpkin face' - eyes, mouth, and nose - using a small brush...
It's when 'Rob' applies the 'finishing touches' to the nose, that he discovers how sensitive his subject is, when that gigantic gut starts jiggling, and a roar of uncontrollable laughter emerges from within the jackal's insides!
Hey, why else would I call this colorful work "Jackal-Lantern"?! Have a happy (and hefty) Halloween!
