I like to listen to my older stuff a lot just to hear how far I've come. I found myself listening to my first composition I ever wrote http://www.furaffinity.net/view/6832115/ a lot this week to get my inspiration for this one. I wrote that whole piece a few years ago without knowing any piano or being able to read sheet music, and while I don't consider myself the best at those things today, I've still come a long way.
This one is really cool. Excellent job in the buildup at the beginning. The sustained notes in the strings were a great way to open. When they took over the moving parts it lent a great deal of momentum to the piece, really driving it forward. Very nice transition around 2:20. It was sharp and drastic without being jarring. Nice segue into the battle theme there. The fanfares at 4:30 were very well placed, a great way to crest at the middle of the piece. The transition at 5:15 wasn't handled as well, though. That one felt like a really hard right turn, but it only threw me off for a second, and that segment did lead into the conclusion pretty well. I was really feeling the strength of this one by 6:30. And what a closer, exemplary!
You got a lot of different themes and emotions to play nice together here. Excellent work.
