For the first time since the end of part 1, Jori and Rossweisse are no longer broke and hungry.
The Eastern Roman Empire survived almost until the end of the middle ages. Today we call it the Byzantine Empire, but that name wasn't given to it until well after it was gone.
So, off to Constantinople (not Istanbul).

I suppose by now, with all this talk of Constantinople, you've already had the "They Might be Giants" lyrics quoted at you too excess?
(And yes, I know they TMBG were only doing a cover of that song.)
I like this turn of the plot. Rossweisse goes forth to seek her fortune. Sort of Dick Whittington meets Nellie Bly with a bit of Red Sonja tossed in for good measure.

It is a long trip, but it's not like they don't have enough time. Nor is it unusual for people to travel so far back then, pilgrimages to Jerusalem were fairly normal for anyone who could afford it at the time, and there are records of Icelandic vikings going to Constantinople.

I know that people travelled during that time, but people being people, just one wrong word and, you know...
As for the Vikings and Constantinople, did they go over land, or by sea? If I remember correctly, going by the sea was usually more preferred than going by land.
As for her and Udo, they both allowed that situation to go south, didn't they? I think Jori should do the talking next time.

Okay, it's 1066, lets see what mischief was going on at the time... Our trio could end up running into the rumblings of what would lead to the First Crusade, maybe bump into the Knights Hospitallers in a few years....And stand to do some Pilgrimage escorts with the Knights Templar, should she chose to....
Oooh, what a great time to be free and armed in the Holy Lands! Now what would you portray Salah- Al-Din Yusef Bin Ayub as? perhaps a noble Jackal? but that's a bit in the future.
