Sounds like you need a good buff / re-roll bard! :3 Might be able to improve those odds to 1/1000000. Inspire Courage, Moment of Greatness, Timely Inspiration, Gallant Inspiration, Contingent Action, Heroic Fortune, and Heroism are just a few low level spells that can make the difference.

Yeah as it turns out Rangers are laughably underpowered.

Rogues are pretty well in the same tier unless you uber optimize them. If you want to play something on the opposite side of the spectrum, just to see what it's like, make a Theurge.

That or a Pirate. You can stack corsair with musketeer and then it gets hilarious.
