It only took me a year to get around to listening to this, but at last I did. I've been a fan of Kaze since I saw the short film back in the day, and this was an interesting story vignette.
I enjoyed meeting Kaze's parents though I wish they'd gotten a bit more time before you know what, but it worked into the story of the canines well and set up that scene. I know I have felt what the dying dog felt, these days I'm grateful for what attention I do get, when I've earned it.
In recent years I've started to see the trend of starting in the middle and going back, and it really doesn't make a whole lot of narrative sense. Its a good scene, don't misunderstand, but for the start of the story I'd have started at the credits. The opening scene when done in this manner can only be taken at face value since its more or less a given we are missing context when starting with later events and catching up, rather than starting at the beginning and going back as needed to add detail.
Anyway, very well done.
