Jasper’s eyes snap open in fear. He lies awake, startled, stuck in sleep paralysis. Once he regains control of his muscles, he slowly sits up. He glances around his darkened room, the only light being emitted is from the small night light plugged in across the room in the corner. He’d always been afraid of the dark, though he wouldn’t admit it to anyone. He breathes quickly and heavily, still startled by the nightmare.
