Track 1 of Fatigue in Red EP, an album I made :] This is quite literally the first thing I both wrote AND recorded.
It wasn't until summer of this year that I saw The Fox and the Hound for the very first time, and then I decided to read the book. Of course, the book is something extremely different from the movie. Here, I thought I'd try to reconcile them under a common theme of separation. I wrote this over the summer and only now got around to recording it. So yeah, have a music. :)
The piano part in the beginning is Tod's theme, which shows up again at the end of track 4. The acoustic part at the very end is Copper's theme, which shows up again as chords throughout track 5.
Here's the whole album:

Lyrics:
And then at last, we fall away,
In spite of all these sides that we made,
Well, life's no different.
The way they all look down on me with those careless expressions,
It almost feels like they want to take me apart as if I was some kind of
(Don't stay here.)
Creepy animatronic underneath my fur and skin like those weird guys
At Five Nights at Freddy's.
(Don't play with death.)
Well I've learned my lesson and I learned it well,
Wires or not, I'm never touching that one shock bowl ever again in my life.
(Don't stay here.)
But how can they think so little of poking so insensitively into those of us
With such sharp faces, our world that much sharper?
(Don't play with death.)
Keeping up with everything I had to learn to stay just a few yards ahead of you,
Honing in on wholesome victory with your teeth in my own neck.
The city grows over our dried fur and aching bones.
Now it's just the two of us, and age with the chase just tears at these lungs.
One day, fatigue will run me down to the ground.
One moment, everything's just fine,
The next, someone's dead,
And we're cursing each other with our canid shouts across the steel track.
Well we just didn't see this before (see this before)
And well it's always been like this ever since you were born.
With our metaphors fostering hate,
Love should never be some kind of weird secret.
(like it's something wrong)
With our heritage sick with war and quest,
Love should never be some kind of weird secret.
And maybe this time, common sense
Protects us from this blindfold offense,
Interrogate the world if you dare.
Alright, I know what you're thinking, how do we know we're not just putting our own words
In a fox's mouth, and our ways in his pawprints, not thinking whether they'll fit?
(Don't stand around.)
Even Mannix* said he had to risk a little anthropomorphism when
He bent down and watched, trying to read the signs.
(Don't fear the cliff.)
[* Daniel P. Mannix was the author of the book The Fox and the Hound. Probably should mention that :p]
Fine, you got me there. But at the same time, how could we say
That the the categorical imperative stops at the boundary of species? After all,
(Don't stand around.)
In the end it's not being right that matters, but our ability to find something
Meaningful in the world. Usually that's in the form of a living thing...
(Don't fear the cliff.)
Keeping up with everything I had to learn to stay just a few yards ahead of you,
Honing in on wholesome victory with your teeth in my own neck.
This city grows over our dried fur and aching bones.
Now it's just the two of us, and age with the chase just tears at these lungs.
Why couldn't we just stick it to the Man?
One moment, everything's just fine,
The next, someone's dead,
And we're cursing each other with our canid shouts across the steel track.
Well we just didn't see this before (see this before)
And well it's always been like this ever since you were born.
I don't care about how cold you feel,
Now that I see you on the farther side,
And I don't care about the pain you feel,
Now that I'm told what to fight for.
Remember that time when we thought it always will?
But always never is - we were so young.
And then in the rain, I lay down and thought
How life fell apart every time.
(I'll get through to you, just you wait)
