Old-school deep gnomes used to be able to summon elemental earth entities; I don't know if they still do that in 5e or Pathfinder. I figure if you're going to summon xorn, you should probably bribe it with a juicy gem of some sort. I don't think Steel Pulse is necessary to summon xorn, but it was on the speakers in the coffeeshop while I was inking.
