Here's Bonnie, my sister's late dog and the inspiration for her pet rescue devoted to handicapped dogs.
No, the puppy isn't blinking - Bonnie was born with anophthalmia, which means her eyes never developed. Despite this, Bonnie excelled in all sorts of activities such as obedience, cart pulling, and therapy work, not to mention being a real sweetheart ( here's a photo of the real Bonnie on a hike: http://i249.photobucket.com/albums/.....llies/dog3.jpg )
I painted this 6 or 7 years ago - one of the few traditional medium pictures in this gallery. It's done in gouache (my first ever, in fact), and the intention was for it to look like an illustration in a kid's book.

Wonderful job, I especially love the way you've done the white fur. Lovely! I say that occasionally : an oldie, but a goodie. I haven't seen much kid's books with that style myself, but it does fit the traditional definition of them for sure - personally I'd say it looks like one of those
I'm glad to hear the dog has led a full life despite her lack of eyes. Many would put accent on that, but I prefer to think of all what she accomplished, even with the handicap. A great dog, no doubt about that.
Oh and, collies are cuuuute. :3
