So this was in the works for a while now, and a bit longer than that to actually get it posted because of stuff and things and reasons and such. But in any case, it's done and for a first attempt, I think it came out rather nicely if I do say so myself.
What you're looking at here (well, not here exactly, as you're reading this text now.. but I mean the image above~) is a variation of a 24" chain dragon that
poked me about and I tried my best to make a reality. What was ordered was a dragon handflower bracelet based on their dragon fursona, with wings and acrylic horns added in the appropriate places. Granted it's not "perfect," but I think I got it pretty damn close!
Now, to cover a couple things you might be wondering or asking yourself about.. First off, the beads up front on the muzzle! Well,
is called such for a reason after all, so I did the best I could to make it look like the dragon was wearing a gas mask. Now, most gas masks have a couple things on them with one being on each side. As far as I can tell, they're filter cartridges or some such thing and the best way I could find to replicate this was by adding a hematite bead to either side using a couple hematite headpins.
Next is the little loop you see that's kinda under the front part of the body. That is the finger loop that goes around the wearer's middle two fingers to help keep it centered in the middle of the hand. Other dragon handflowers I've seen seem to use a basic 1-1 chain for this, but I felt that was a bit too frail for my liking, and I also wanted something a bit more rounded to hopefully help minimize the rings "cutting" into the fingers. What I ended up using was a byzantine weave with rubber rings in the "cages" to add a lil stretch to it as well, again for comfort/extended wear.
And for the last thing.. how the hell do you wear the thing?! Well, it's quite easy if you have the "skill" for it. Basically the tail wraps around your wrist, and is held there by a double lobster claw assembly. So what I mean by "skill" is the ability to work a lobster claw with one hand, which I fail horribly at. Having someone else to help would be a major help here I think, at least in my case anyway. In the long run, I'd love to figure out a way to add rubber rings to the tail/bracelet part so you could just slip it on and be good to go, but that'll have to wait until I can figure that out, and get some spare cash together to order said rubber rings for it.
I will be posting another picture of my rather failed attempt at wearing it to show how it kinda is supposed to look~
