Back in the 1990s, I was a semi-regular contributor to "The Dallas Brawl Update", a publication where its artists and writers used to poke (mild) fun at some of the characters of other artists and writers. ("Fur Affinity" is a sort of high-tech version of "DBU".)

I'm presenting a rare offering of mine from a back issue of "DBU"; this is the first of a two-page comic-styled gag, teaming up the bobcat with two other regulars: 'Lincoln Hightower' the giraffe (the owner/operator and occasional disk jockey of KDBU - a fictitious radio station) and 'Demon' the squirrel (a well-endowed rodent with magical powers, which she uses for her our mischievous purposes). This gag also features my other character 'Donovan Lupus' the wolf in a cameo role (waiting for a bus outside of the radio station); in fact, I had to digitally draw him in the first panel (since I forgot to include him, the first time I had this strip printed to begin with).

In RL, my mother felt that I had an excellent speaking voice, and thought I should've landed a job as either a DJ or a regular radio announcer. However, the best I could do with my voice was end up with the "job from Hell"... 'telemarketing'! Nevertheless, I'd decided to give 'Rob Cat' the opportunity I never had, letting the bobcat try out for a DJ gig at KDBU. And even though 'Lincoln' is impressed, 'Demon' finds a golden opportunity to sabotage the open audition (to be continued on Page Two)...
