also i might point out on episode 4 of his play through of FNAF 1 starting from 5:20 he says he ain't judging and stuff which is such a rare quality in 'mainstream' people that he has earned a large amount of respect from me.

The best part? Mark admitted he has automatonophobia, the feat of mechanical 'people', so all of his reactions and stress are genuine as the game is literally his phobia of mechanical people trying to kill him. (he admitted this during either episode 2 or 3 of his Alien Isolation playthrough, one where the picture shows a robot with red eyes).

The only thing worse than playing a horror game is playing a horror game with a panicky d-bag who hollers his head off every time something moves.
Friggin' Markiplier. . . I have no apprehension about the jump scares. It's him overreacting at every friggin' little thing that makes his vids so unnerving to sit through.

for me it hits that "ooh spooky!" button just in the right way. perhaps due to the Chuckee cheese reference many of us grew up with. that a large chunk of the story is in mystery. that is has jump scares that are time right for a lot of people and the over the top reactions a lot of let's players do. so it probably hit a lot of little "right" buttons for a lot of people and the thing just avalanched out of control. can't say i don't envy the guy a bit for finding that 'sweet spot' though
