So, a mini tut, more of an example - how a hard-light layer can improve a pic...

Same basic idea ad the "September" pic tut - the over-all environment bounces light all over a scene/character.

Image on left here is before the hard light layer was done - the colours are too cool to be lit by that huge fire behind her.

The HL layer at first is a flat medium/dark red - reflected fire light everywhere.

Then some lighter orange light meduium-hi-lights increase the contrast and give a slight sense of glow/scattered light.

Then erasing the HL layer in places where the light doesn't reach, to let the cooler original colours show through.

Then, cuz i tend to work to extremes (so i can see what i'm doing), i turned the HL layer opacity down to 29% so it would be a more subtle effect.

(Layer was auto named "Layer 3", BTW - it's actually layer 20 or so)
