The Isos Dragon Nebula is the remains of a dead star that has been long forgotten through the ages. It is only ten light years thick, but about 60 light years long and is a winding cloud of brilliant purple.
The nebula can be seen clearly from the Krian homeworld, Halax.

A bit of a gift for my friend, JetDelta7 since this galaxy is named after her character, Lord Iso.
I know it may not seem much to some, but in my eyes, the highest honor that I can give to someone is naming something in my galaxy after them, letting them create something in the Azure Wheel canon, or basing a character off of them.
I struggled with what to actually name the nebula since "The Jet Nebula" and "The Iso Nebula" both seemed like odd names to me.
I settled on the word "Isos" since it means "Equal" in Greek... and the modern day word, "Iso" is derived from it. "Dragon" was added because Lord Iso is a dragon.
Canonically in the Azure Wheel Galaxy, the nebula is named for its serpentlike shape after an ancient Krian hero.
Also. Purple.

I'm... really not quite sure how to answer that, since for the most part I use the same techniques for my star maps that I do to make space art. There's plenty of tutorials on DeviantArt that show the exact same techniques that I do for making planets, stars and nebulae.
The only difference is that I arrange said space art onto a neat little layout, which is where my background in graphic design comes in. It's mostly just knowing how to arrange the different parts of the picture in a way that they look pretty together.
For that, I'd suggest looking for tutorials on composition or articles on how to design layouts.
