Remember when I said I was making a suit last October? Well, here it is.
This is a personal suit, and I had one week to make it before a Halloween party.
It was made from this costume (DeviantArt link): http://fav.me/d31kqzs and so was HEAVILY redone.
Since I was rushed, a few things didn't go my way; mostly the silver back fur. I wanted it patterned only down to the tail (more realistic to the coloration on a real badger), but I had already cut out the pieces in my haste and was already piecing scraps together of the discontinued fur.
I wanted to try out numerous varying techniques, so this was the perfect time to do it!
Specs include:
-Moving jaw
-Fleece muzzle
-Black resin eyes
-Thicker, painted lips
-Long whiskers (also on chin)
-Dropped crotch
-Long fitted fabric claws
-Stuffed and wired tail
-Plain foot bottoms
I love wearing this guy since being grumpy is part of the character. It's natural to just stand there!
I wish my camera picked up the white stripe running down the sides between the silver and the black, and the short grey silver realistic head fur.
I ended up winning First place with this suit at Steel City Con in December of 2013, which was extremely flattering since there were MANY talented contestants with great costumes.
All in all, I love this suit even though the feet claws were somewhat ruined at Anthrocon because of all the concrete. I'll repair them one day and he'll make another appearance. Unless he doesn't feel like it.
Because, you know, Honey Badger don't care.
